*** Update as of 10:45 a.m. on May 26: Vancouver police say Hastings Street is now open in both directions.**

Vancouver Police responded to a serious assault on Hastings Street early this morning that has closed all traffic to the area.

VPD tweeted about the incident on just after 7 a.m. on May 26, stating that, "Hastings between Gore and Dunlevy is closed to all traffic due to a multiple stabbing."

Police added that transit was rerouted and advise the public to avoid the area.

VPD Media Relations Officer Constable Tania Visintin tells Vancouver Is Awesome in an email that the police responded to the incident just after 6 a.m. this morning. She adds that two people have been taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"There is not a threat to the public as this appears to be an isolated incident," writes Visintin. "I may have more information as the investigation progresses but I am limited on what I can say at this time."

Traffic has been closed on East Hastings in both directions and transit is being diverted.

No arrests were made and an investigation is ongoing.
