A group of protesters are staging and “intersection” action today during the height of rush hour traffic.

The protest takes place on March 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue.

This follows the release of a report by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The group Climate Convergence is demanding that the federal and provincial governments stop construction on the Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) and Coastal Gaslink (CGL) pipelines.

Climate Convergence central organizer Alison Bodine said that “Canada is already the G20 country with the highest per-capita greenhouse gas emissions. The TMX and CGL pipelines will deepen Canada’s devastating and disproportionate impact on the global climate.”
