Vancouver cyclist hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following vehicle collision

The VPD are seeking witnesses to a collision in Kitsilano that left on cyclist with life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for witnesses after a collision in Kitsilano earlier this week left a cyclist with life-threatening.

The incident happened on Monday, March 18 around 9:30 a.m. when the 36-year-old cyclist was riding north on Maple Street near the intersection at West 4th Avenue.

The cyclist "was struck by the driver of a Toyota Venza in the intersection," states the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) in a press release.

Drastic measures were required to remove the woman from the situation.

“The cyclist’s leg was trapped under the car, and required Vancouver Fire Rescue Services to use the jaws of life to rescue her,” says Conts. Tania Visintin in the release.

The woman remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses or people with footage of the scene are being asked to contact police at 1-604-717-3012.
