A thriller called "Karoshi" will be filmed in Gastown in Vancouver, B.C., on Friday, June 13, 2025. The VPD will be in the area to assist with traffic.

Filming for a new Samurai film will block traffic in Gastown heading into the weekend.

Karoshi Productions Canada Inc. has notified residents in the Gastown area of filming in the 300-block of West Cordova Street from 3 p.m. on Friday, June 13, through Saturday at 5 a.m.

Directed by Takashi Doscher, the film Karoshi is described as a "corporate thriller with a samurai twist" starring Leo Yoo (Past Lives), according to Deadline.

Essential work trucks will arrive in the area around noon, and crews will start setting up after 1:30 p.m. Filming will mostly occur in and around the laneway north of the 300 and 400 blocks of West Cordova between the intersection of Cambie and Cordova streets. There will be some road closures in these areas.

The 200-block of Cambie Street will be closed to all traffic for production support vehicles and to minimize impacts on West Cordova Street.

Two scenes involve intermittent traffic control, where picture cars drive (at the speed limit) to simulate a "busy street." The Vancouver Police Department and certified control personnel will be on-site to assist.

Lighting lifts will produce some occasional noise, and the filming area will appear brighter than usual.

YVRShoots Tweets shared the resident notification letter on X, formerly Twitter.

The Network Hub shared an image of some of the crew's vehicles arriving arriving to film scenes for the movie in Chinatown earlier this week.
