Vancouver releases two concept designs of new park on False Creek

The city is looking for public feedback.

The city is releasing potential designs for a new park on False Creek near Science World.

And they're asking the public for advice on them.

Currently dubbed East Park, the new park was announced in 2022 and went through a round of public consultation to guide initial designs. It's now moving forward.

"In this round of engagement, we are sharing information about the Ontario Street upgrades and inviting feedback on preliminary concept designs for the south side of East Park, between the Seaside Greenway and East First Avenue," states the city in a public report.

Now, those concept designs have come out, with two options: Breathe or Braid.

The designs have many similar features, like a community garden, bike routes and space for socializing.

There are differences though. In the drawings, the Braid design includes a tree grove, small paths braided together and flat grassy areas.

In the Breathe design, there's a more major path that is more direct, a grassy mound, a sports court area and a small pollinator area.

A report on the two designs has been published by the city. Feedback on the designs can be submitted through the city's site from March 26 to April 16.
