Metro Vancouver school on lockdown after 'serious assault' on staff member

A suspect was seen leaving the school grounds in a grey Kia vehicle and police are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle leaving, or may have CCTV or dashcam footage.

A Surrey school is on lockdown after a member of school staff received serious injuries this morning.

At 8:25 a.m. on March 13, Surrey RCMP and the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team responded to a report of a serious assault on a member of school staff at LA Matheson Secondary School. RCMP report that the staff member received serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.

LA Matheson Secondary School is currently locked down and police are advising the public to stay away at this time.

A suspect was seen leaving the school grounds in a grey Kia vehicle and police are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle leaving, or may have CCTV or dashcam footage. Anyone with footage is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
