Mounties in Burnaby are asking for witnesses to come forward that may have seen a stranger assault earlier this week.
RCMP explain, on Tuesday (June 14), a male suspect allegedly approached and punched a man in what police describe as an unprovoked assault near the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue.
The 33-year-old suffered minor injuries, and police say the suspect also threatened to kill the victim before walking away.
"While there are no reports of similar incidents in the area, police are concerned about this random assault and are looking for information to assist in the investigation," says spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins in a news release today (June 17).
The male suspect is described as:
- White
- 38 to 40 years old
- Heavy build
- Brown curly hair
- Last seen wearing...
- Shorts with grey leggings underneath
- Grey shirt
Police are asking anyone who saw the incident or might have dashcam video while travelling westbound on Loughneed Highway near Willingdon Avenue between 4 and 5 p.m. to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
