Flights from Vancouver to Rome are among the cheapest deals for summer and fall travel to Europe.
For many years, flights to Italy have cost significantly more than trips to other Western European cities, such as Paris, London, Barcelona, or Dublin.
However, new daily flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with German leisure airline Condor have made trips to popular southern and central European cities dramatically cheaper.
Condor recently expanded its North American network, increasing the number of cities it flies from and the number of flights it operates out of airports like Vancouver. Via the carrier's hub city, Frankfurt, locals can find more affordable tickets to cities like Vienna, Milan, Rome, Prague, and many others.
Return trips to Rome's Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) typically start at over $1,200 from YVR. With Condor, travellers can enjoy tickets for about half the price.
For instance, a flight departing Vancouver on Oct. 16 and returning from Rome on Oct. 23, 2025, costs $652 when booked through third-party supplier CheapOair. Alternatively, tickets only cost $4 more if bought directly through Condor. With such a low price difference, travellers may prefer to book directly through the airline to cut out the middle company (see slides two and three).
The itinerary includes one stop in Frankfurt in either direction. The outbound journey's layover is two hours and 20 minutes and the return one is four hours and 15 minutes.
This price is considered "low" for economy or $358 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights.
Cheap one-way flights from Vancouver to Rome
Travellers preferring to fly to Rome and then out of another Italian or European city can find numerous cheap options through the summer.
During the summer, one-way options in previous years cost as much as a return trip to London (around $600 to $800), even during off-season. Now, trips with only one stop cost about half that amount.
Metro Vancouver travellers can find several one-way options with WestJet and other carriers for just over $400. A few options are even cheaper, such as one flight departing from Vancouver on Nov. 11 that makes one stop in Calgary for three hours for $317 when bought through BudgetAir. The first flight is with Flair Airlines and the second is with WestJet (see slide four).
Flight prices may change quickly based on seat availability. If you want to secure a price, book the ticket right away (some airlines and travel suppliers allow you to hold seats, although you will need to confirm).
