The open burning restrictions that have been in place in Metro Vancouver since March 27 have been lifted.

Any open burning activities in the region must be authorized through an Open Burn Approval obtained from the Metro Vancouver Regional District, in addition to any authorization as required by Municipal Fire Departments or the B.C. Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.

More information and an application form may be found on Metro Vancouver’s website (search for “application for open burn approval”).

Metro Vancouver continues to monitor air quality as well as the COVID-19 situation and is working closely with partner agencies. Residents and businesses are encouraged to follow the orders and recommendations of the provincial health officer.

Metro Vancouver is responsible for managing and regulating air contaminants in the region.
