Vancouver man arrested after first murder of the year

One person is dead, another has non-life threatening injuries

Vancouver police are investigating the first homicide of 2021.

Police were called to the Gastown Hotel around 5:30 a.m. this morning (Jan. 31). Once on scene, they found two people had been stabbed, according to a police press release.

"A 40-year-old from Vancouver died at the scene. The second victim, a 28-year-old from Vancouver, was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries," writes Cst. Steve Addison in the release.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the incident and remains in police custody.
