Vancouver police arrest man who allegedly stole a supply truck from St. Paul's Hospital

Vancouver Police announced Friday the arrest of a man suspected of stealing a supply van from St. Paul's Hospital.

The vehichle, a 2008 Pontiac Montana van, was reported stolen just before 1 a.m. Friday. The van had been parked in the underground lot of the hospital, and the keys were inside the vehicle.

“With the help of a tracking device on the van, police were able to track the vehicle to the area of Powell Street and Commercial Drive,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “Our patrol officers and canine unit worked swiftly to get the suspect in custody.”

A 26-year-old Burnaby resident was taken into custody. 

Charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and theft of an automobile have been recommended.

Police are reminding the public to call 9-1-1 if they see a crime in progress or suspicious activity.
