Locals catch photos of northern lights around Metro Vancouver

Did you see them?

While the city lights drowned it out for many, the aurora borealis were spotted by some lucky folks this weekend.

Over the nights of Sept. 3 and 4, a geomagnetic storm hit the atmosphere above North America, according to the American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

During that time, the green hue flashed across the sky; while many couldn't see it with their bare eyes, cameras were able to pick up dramatic green flashes using their advanced sensors and slow shutter speeds. In one case, Adrian De Lisle got the spectacular natural display with a timelapse shot.

Here's some of what was caught over Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
