A man has been found and taken to hospital after being reported missing last night, June 28, from Chance Creek Forest Service Road at around 9:45 p.m.

Squamish RCMP and Squamish Search and Rescue were searching for the 32-year-old New Brunswick man on June 29, before he contacted his friends.

The man and his crew were camping up Chance Creek, Sgt. Sascha Banks told The Chief, when he when to ride his dirt bike and didn’t return. The man’s dirt bike was found around 400 metres away. At around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, the missing biker made contact, saying he had crashed, then hiked to the Squamish Valley and was being transported to the hospital.

In a press release, Sgt. Sascha Banks said the RCMP will be looking into the collision and man’s injuries. No details were provided about the man’s injuries.

She went on to thank the Squamish Search and Rescue crew: “We couldn't have done it without them. This is the best possible outcome, we can't stress enough about safety in our backcountry...be smart and be prepared."

The Chief will update this story if more information becomes available.
