Years ago when I was a wide-eyed reporter starting my journalism career, I met Jennifer Wade. My recollection of our meeting is dim, but I know it centred on social activism.

To the editor: Re: "Vision pokes hornet's nest at community centres," Feb. 15. I was a Vision Vancouver's supporter in 2008 because the NPA were too cozy with developers. Little did I suspect Vision would be even more shortsighted.

Opposition leader Adrian Dix reaffirmed last week that the New Democratic Party campaign will be high-road all the way. Positive. Respectful of opponents. Something of which the party will be proud.

To the editor: Re: "Councillor seeks legal advice after surprise call," Feb. 8. I read with a mixture of amusement and incredulity that the reason city manager Penny Ballem wanted to kill the motion from Coun.

"He had been eight years upon a project for extracting sunbeams out of cucumbers, which were to be put in phials hermetically sealed, and let out to warm the air in raw inclement summers.

To the editor: Re: "Community centres protest park board's plan," Feb. 1. It's disappointing to see some of the comments from Community Centre Association representatives about the new joint operating agreement the park board is proposing.

Just so you know: a battle has been raging for the past couple of weeks in the back rooms of Vancouvers governing party.
