Every August, West 4th throws a big '60s themed street party commemorating Kitsilano's hippie heritage. Having spent 3 summers working retail at Arbutus, I've always experienced the event as a half hour lunch break listening to classic rock cover bands.
This year, Zulu is setting up a free stage and it's got a little something different going on. They've got Apollo Ghosts, Ora Corgan, Rose Melberg, The Evaporators, and No Horses on from noon until 4ish on August 15th. If you have time, wander over to the macrame booth before the show starts and craft yourself a sweet headband.
