Last Week In Music 7 ft. Sun Wizard, Jasper Sloan Yip, Vertical Studios, Henry & The Nightcrawlers

This week in music started, and ended, at The Biltmore, imagine that. The bouncers officially recognize me now.

My outings went down this week slightly when I realized hockey was on basically from noon until 10PM, depending on the day, so I proceeded to watch as much as I could.

Sun Wizard however, managed to get me off the couch/bar stool and out to Biltmore. They put on an amazing show as always...if you haven't seen them yet, be sure to check them out on May 30 at the...wait for it...Biltmore:

Next up was an amazing treat...CBC hosted what they called "Hockey Night on Hamilton Street". They had the game on the big screen, bubble hockey, slapshot tents, Radio 1 & the news broadcasting live, Sully of the Green Men appeared (so did the mayor) and Jasper Sloan Yip (Radio3's 20,000 artist to sign up for the website) playing live over the course of the 3 hours. It was pretty fun to be out on the plaza again...until the hurricane hit (it wasn't all bad, I won a travel mug for being a trooper), but Jasper and the band did a great job and even had people dancing in the rain...

Okay, so this wasn't a show that I went to, BUT, Tom Dobrzanski, of Vancouver band The Zolas, and his recording studio, Vertical Studios, is featured in this month's issue of EXCLAIM! magazine...and I got to do the photoshoot, with freelance music writer Amanda Ash writing the article. Go team! (Pick up a copy of the magazine, its the one with Hannah Georgas on the cover!)

And back to the Biltmore I go...for the wonderfully talented Henry & The Nightcrawlers...Henry, backed by Tom & Zach of the Zolas, had a crowd of some of the whos-whos of indie rock royalty in Vancouver dancing and swaying. If you're unfamiliar with the name, check out his music here...and when you can't get into the Hannah Georgas CD Release, head to the Media Club on the 22nd...
