Seeing the snow-covered mountains this morning (two weeks from June) reminded me for some reason of the one-time local degenerates who created the video series “Whiskey.” Sean Johnson and Sean Kerns created Boozy the Clown, a character with no comprehension of consequences. My favorite of the series, “Whiskey 2,” showed Vancouver and BC as a place where skating and snowboarding were intertwined, and pros were definitely not role models. The funny and fresh skits inspired a generation of similar-minded people who armed themselves with a video camera, a case of beer and a crazy idea. The Whiskey videos are also notable for showing many of the amazing Vancouver skaters and snowboarders early in their careers.
Breaking bottles over your head became the local past time and it wasn’t uncommon to see some knucklehead unconscious at a party. It appeared the partying and pranks took their toll as Whiskey 3 was a little depressing. The movies are still funny, I bet there are a lot of stories out there regarding the filming!
If you check out Sean’s Johnson local snowboard company Stepchild he has actually brought back Boozy the Clown, and yes people get knocked out!
