The 8th annual Curry Cup competition pits top Vancouver chefs against each other - and guests can taste all their delicious dishes

Back for its eighth year - not counting the expected pandemic pause - Vancouver's Curry Cup competition is back on and sizzling for 2022.

Taking place Monday, April 11 at Mount Pleasant's Heritage Hall, The Curry Cup pits talented local chefs against each other in a curry cooking competition - and guests get to sample all their tantalizing creations.

"For many chefs and their brigades, curry is the ultimate family-style staff meal, the proud product of a cook's cultural heritage," describes event organizers.

Many of the city's top restaurants will be represented, as well as some exciting newcomers. Look for a vegetarian curry from the team at Anh and Chi, for example, and a charred squid curry dish from the Vancouver Aquarium's chef, or taste-drive entries from recently-opened spots Smitty's Oyster House and Zarak by Afghan Kitchen

Here are the 2022 participating restaurants/chefs (and some of their planned dishes):

  • Zarak by Afghan Kitchen
  • Sarah Stewart, Sing Sing -  Hazelmere Golden Beet Curry, Sweet Potato Naan, Cashew Cream
  • Jesse Leitner & Allen Oldere, Smitty's Oyster House on Main- Japanese Curry with Basmati Rice
  • Raj Jaganathan,  BC Chefs Association - Coconut & Mango Curry, Chapati
  • Jonathon Gee, Wild Forager-Creekside Dairy & Creamery Beef, Tomato & Coconut Curry
  • Kelsey Wong & Quoc Chan, Anh and Chi-Vegetarian Curry

The Curry Cup is hosted by The Chefs' Table Society of BC and the Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area.
