Boutique Italian grocer and deli closes Vancouver shop after nearly two years

The small "pasta boutique" with imported Italian foods has ended its run

A small "pasta boutique" featuring Italian grocery items and a deli counter has ended its run on Vancouver's busy Pacific Boulevard in Yaletown.

"La Bottega di Mangia is now permanently closed," states an auto-reply email to the business's general account. The shop's Instagram account has also been deactivated.

A sibling to Mount Pleasant's under-the-radar favourite Mangia Cucina & Bar, La Bottega di Mangia launched in the summer of 2021, amid the challenging climate of the pandemic.

The grocer/deli hybrid, located at at 1155 Pacific Blvd, stocked "only certified authentic high quality Italian products," such as Parmigiana Reggiano, San Marzano tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar from Modena. La Bottega di Mangia also sold an array of hand-made pasta and sauces, prepared in-house by Mangia Executive Chef Alessandro Riccobono.

An exact closure date was not indicated by the business, which last updated its Facebook page in late February to announce new shop hours.

La Bottega di Mangia joins neighbour, and fellow Italian venture, Sciué in shutting down recently. The Yaletown location of Sciué was one of the four the business shuttered at the end of April.

V.I.A. reached out to La Bottega di Mangia regarding the shop's closure and will update if any further information becomes available.
