New spot for pizza, beer, and cocktails opening next week at boutique Vancouver hotel

Pizza, beer, wine, sports, and a bar that's all about the art of the spritz

Things are shaking up nicely at the Opus Vancouver when it comes to dining and drink options. The boutique Yaletown hotel venue will soon be home to the city's first bar focused on spritz-style cocktails, and a new pizza-centric restaurant, all at the hands of the team behind one of the city's most popular Italian concepts.

Capo & the Spritz will launch in the ground floor digs of the Opus that were previously home to La Pentola. The venture is the work of Autostrada Hospitality, which currently operates two (soon to be three) locations of the Italian restaurant in the city.

“We are excited to be in partnership with Opus Vancouver in the creation of Capo & The Spritz. Not only is Opus a fixture in the Vancouver's hotel and hospitality scene, but Yaletown represents an exciting opportunity for us to bring a new concept to this vibrant neighbourhood," said Dustin Dockendorf, Founder of Autostrada Hospitality, via social media.

La Pentola, the critically-acclaimed Northern Italian restaurant, shuttered in July after an eight-year run. The restaurant, and adjoining Opus Bar, were operated by Safe and Sound Entertainment (Bar None, Hello Goodbye). La Pentola's social media accounts have now been flipped over to those for Capo & the Spritz.

Autostrada is co-owned and operated by Dockendorf and chef Lucais Syme. The first Autostrada Osteria opened on Main Street in 2018; the laid-back restaurant showcases a slim menu of house-made pasta and antipasti, negronis, and wine. Soon after, the team flipped their more upscale Cinara on Pender in downtown Vancouver into an Autostrada. Earlier this year, they confirmed their third Autostrada location, this time in the city's eye-catching Vancouver House development in what's being called the 'Beach District.'

The plans for Capo & the Spritz haven't been fully revealed, however, Dockendorf did share on his personal Instagram account that the bar-restaurant will have all the things they love: "Pizza. Beer. Wine. Sports. Good times. 🌈. (and amazing cocktails)."

Speaking of cocktails, you'll be in good hands at Capo thanks to 15-year industry veteran Kaitlyn Stewart serving as Bar Director for the venture.
