You can get this insane 'double down' schnitzel sandwich for one day only

While there are a number of great Oktoberfest events in Vancouver, only one will have an epic 'double down'-style sandwich made with schnitzel.

When we turn the calendars to October, we find ourselves knee-deep in a seasonal paradise for beer lovers: Oktoberfest. While there are a number of great options for hoisting a few pints of brew and donning some lederhosen, only one will have an epic 'double down'-style sandwich made with schnitzel.

On Tuesday, October 1, you can to head to Juke in Chinatown for Bawktobeerfest - a celebration of beer and fried foods like none other.

Vancouver's Strange Fellows will be doing a tap takeover, showcasing their 'Jukefest' Lager made just for the occasion.

And then there's that sandwich. Riffing on the fast food headline-grabber that swaps out traditional buns for fried chicken, Juke will have a rendition that features schnitzel doubling down. They'll also have Juke-brats sausages on the menu for that night only.

Tickets are $20 in advance ($25 at the door) which cover you for snacks and a beer.

Now, if you can't make it out Tuesday night for this Oktoberfest insanity, there are plenty of other worthy ways to mark the season with German-inspired food and lots of beer. You can mark the month by saying "prost!" at some seriously suds-soaked shindigs like Harvestland or the Vancouver Alpen Club's classic Oktoberfest nights, or you can feast on some fantastic fare at Bells and Whistles (brats, currywurst, housemade potato salad and sauerkraut and schnitzel) paired with seasonal beers. Check out our full guide to Oktoberfest in Vancouver for all the details.
