They promised it would be exciting and it looks like they were right!

Diners at Bar Susu can expect a fun and casual menu of dishes created by chefs Gus Stieffenhoffer-Brandson and Ash Kurtz.

The team behind one of Vancouver's top newest restaurants of the last couple of years are poised to deliver as promised on an exciting new modern destination for food and drink in the space that had previously been the Mount Pleasant go-to The Whip.

The Whip closed down in mid-January, at which time Cody Allmin (Published on Main) hinted plans were already in motion for the vacated venue located in a historic building on East 6th Ave.

For this "pop-up" ventured called Bar Susu, Allmin has brought along Gus Stieffenhoffer-Brandson, the talented chef from Published and Ashley Kurtz (the culinary driving force behind Allmin's forthcoming project Novella), to create a fun, casual menu. Dishes like Honey Cruller topped with Duck Liver Parfait, Steelhead Gravlax, Grilled Ling Cod, and Quince Sticky Toffee Pudding will be paired with a drinks program that highlights natural wines and cocktails.

Bar Susu will be pouring wines from a list curated by Brittany Hoorne (previously of East Van darling Dachi) and mixing cocktails crafted by Keefer Bar alum Joe Casson.

The Bar Susu team has put The Whip space through a quick revamp and plans to open later this month at 209 East 6th Ave. Follow @bar_susu on Instagram for updates.
