Known for their incredible chicken broth-based bowls of ramen, Marutama is adding a fifth Metro Vancouver location to their roster very soon.

Marutama has taken over the space in Richmond on No. 3 Road vacated in December 2019 by Asaka Ramen.

In 2019, Marutama took the Gold in the Best Ramen category of the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, thanks in no small part to their consistent delivery of nuanced umami-powered broth and house-made noodles that is a true Japanese version of chicken soup for the soul.

While we do know that work is underway to transform Asaka's old space into Marutama, we don't have a firm opening date. Likely it won't be too long, however, considering Marutama is an established brand here in Metro Vancouver and they are moving into a space that was used prior for making and serving ramen, too.

Marutama has locations currently in Vancouver's West End on Bidwell, in downtown near the Central Library, the spin-off Marutama Gaiden on Main Street in Vancouver, and in Burnaby at Metrotown.

Marutama Ramen will be located at 2780 No. 3 Rd in Richmond
