It’s called ‘NaMì 2.0’.

It’s the latest project for foodie and entrepreneur Kevin Thach, who got his first-hand knowledge of the industry at his parents’ award-winning Pho Thai Hoa 1 Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver.

Tach says the new food cart, slated to open next Wednesday, will offer visitors “a taste of authentic Vietnamese home-cooking fused with modern techniques and fresh ingredients in a variety of bowls.”

It follows in the footsteps of the first ‘NaMì OG’ food cart that made its debut in April that offers fresh-made báhn mì baguette sandwiches.

To celebrate the launch, the first 50 customers to greet NaMì 2.0 at its new home during its inaugural service starting at 11 a.m. on July 17 will receive a free vermicelli bowl.

There are a few flavours to choose from so far:

Classic bowl: vermicelli topped with pork or vegan spring roll, shredded cabbage, bean sprouts, pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber and mixed herbs with a choice of protein and dressing.

Banana blossom salad bowl: banana blossom, kale and spinach topped with cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, mung bean and mixed herbs with a choice of protein and dressing.

Garlic beef vermicelli bowl: vermicelli topped with sautéed garlic beef in a garlic, lemongrass and onion sauce with shredded cabbage, cucumber, mixed herbs and spicy chili lime dressing.

On top of the flavoursome bowls, the cart will also have an array of sides including lemongrass chicken grilled skewers, deep-fried spring rolls and salad rolls.

Plus, if you're after a caffeine hit, there will be iced Vietnamese coffee made with condensed milk or sweetened coconut milk on offer.

Visitors can also look forward to a number of monthly rotating features and vegan options.

The cart will be at the corner of Burrard and Davie Streets in the heart of Vancouver’s West End beginning.

Customers can enjoy a $7 vermicelli-bowl special throughout the first week of service, July 17 to 24.

The NaMì OG báhn mì food cart can be found at the corner of West Georgia and Granville Streets.
