One of Vancouver's favourite roving burgers will soon have a permanent home. Between2Buns has been an itinerant operation since its debut, setting up pop-ups at local breweries and restaurants as well as operating a food truck. Now the burger stars are setting their sights on turning one of their pop-up addresses into a permanent home.

While Between2Buns has been found at spots like Container Brewing, The Boxcar, The Magnet, and Main St Brewing, they've also been using 105 East Pender Street as a base for some time. That Chinatown location had been the longtime home of sausage-and-beer staple Bestie, but Bestie bid auf wiedersehen to the space in October 2020. Soon after the Between2Buns folks began operating some of the time out of the vacated restaurant.

Now Between2Buns is putting the food truck in park and working on its four walls. The burger slingers say they are going to focus their attention on their brick and mortar on Pender, according to recent social media postings.

Between2Buns is known for its simple menu of smashburgers, those thin, crispy-edged patties loaded onto soft buns. Their policy is "no mods," meaning they make things exactly as the menu states, and they have a "no tomatoes" policy. Burgers come as singles or doubles with cheese, or they offer a veggie burger. Specials include a riff on a popular fast food classic or loaded chili burgers.
