This January, Vancouver's St. Lawrence restaurant will hold a series of maple syrup

Here's your chance to experience one of Quebec's legendary maple syrup "sugar shacks" without leaving Vancouver.

Vancouver's acclaimed St. Lawrence restaurant is hosting a dinner series this January that will showcase the Quebecois staple ingredient and transport guests to a classic "sugar shack."

Taking place January 19 through 23, with seatings at 5:30 and 8 p.m. nightly, St. Lawrence's Cabane a Sucre features a menu from chef/owner J-C Poirier that stars maple syrup and an array of traditional Quebecois dishes and ingredients.

Visiting the Cabane à Sucre with my family was something that I used to look forward to every year,” says Poirier, who spent his formative years in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec before embarking on his culinary career. “We want to give our guests an authentic taste of the sugar shack experience from start to finish and show why this is such a time-honoured part of our Québécois heritage.”

The evening starts off with a welcome cocktail, and is followed by a multi-course sit-down feast that includes hearty dishes like a duck meat pie (Tourtiere a Canard), sausages cooked in maple syrup, baked beans, and split pea soup with ham hock - just to name a few.

The meal promises to be elegant and decadent, which is what St. Lawrence has come to be known for - along with gracious hospitality.
