A Taiwanese dessert shop known for its grass jelly desserts has reopened in Richmond.
Meet Fresh made its quiet comeback by opening on July 30 in Pomona Cafe's former unit at Union Square Shopping Centre.
The dessert shop closed its initial Richmond location, also in the same plaza, back in March, with signs indicating that it was moving to a new location. It wasn't until early summer did Meet Fresh's signs appeared at the recently closed Pomona Cafe's store.
The brand started in 2007 by Mr. and Mrs. Fu, both born and raised in a traditional farming family in central Taiwan, according to Meet Fresh's website.
The two owners wanted to preserve the traditional way of making desserts fresh daily and share them with the Canadian market; hence, the dessert store was established.
Meet Fresh is known for its grass jelly desserts with mixed taro and yam balls, tofu pudding desserts, shaved ice, as well as a variety of tea-based drinks.
Between Aug. 2 and 8, the store will have limited grand opening deals, including buy one, get one free signature ice grass jelly and coconut jelly mango green tea drinks.
The store is at 1010-8300 Capstan Way and opens daily from noon to 10 p.m.
