Live stream shows the English Bay Barge

The wayward chip barge in English Bay is still firmly planted on the seawall, despite its owner Sentry Marine Towing (SMT) stating that it would likely be removed at high tide Dec. 6, 2021. That window passed this morning at 8:08 a.m. as the king tide for the day began to go down.

The removal attempt has been delayed, and a date for a new one has yet to be set. Vancouver Is Awesome spoke with a representative for SMT Monday morning, but that person would not go on the record.

First arriving on Nov. 14 when strong winds washed the vessel onto the shores of Sunset Beach in the West End, the barge has become a local fixture and the subject of many conversations.

The barge has made national headlines, spawned its own social media presence and has inspired countless internet memes.

Arguably the most exciting thing to happen at the site since it washed ashore was radio host Charis Hogg doing a faceplant while attempting a stunt on November 25.

Watch the livestream from Bluemist Design and keep your eyes on Vancouver Is Awesome as we update you on the latest developments.
