Bao Diep is now a millionaire after winning $1 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw.

May Day was a very good day for Bao Diep.

The Langley man didn't have to wait long between buying his Lotto 6./49 ticket and finding out he'd won.

He'd been in Abbotsford and had stopped at a Town Pantry convenience store to grab the ticket. Later, at home, he checked the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) app.

“I saw that someone won in Abbotsford, so I thought maybe I had a chance,” Diep says in a BCLC press release. “I scanned my ticket and saw one million dollars. I was very happy and excited!”

It turns out he had won on the Gold Ball when a white ball was drawn.

He describes the $1-million payday as "life-changing" and plans to use some of it on a trip to Turkey.

Diep is also looking forward to spending more money on cooking, one of his favourite hobbies.
