Vancouverites aren't a big fan of snow when it arrives in town.

While it's close to a split, the majority of people in Vancouver aren't a fan of snow falling in the city.

Vancouver Is Awesome asked readers if they liked it when snow fell here, and more the 700 people answered, with just over half saying they weren't a fan. That's not to say they don't like snow, just that they don't like snow in the city.

When accounting just for local votes, the split is more pronounced, with almost 56 per cent saying they don't like it when it snows here. The poll was run just a few days after the Nov. 29 snowstorm which snarled traffic for hours, which may have influenced some voters.

While the human residents of the city are split about snow in the city, at least one non-human resident is entertained by snowfall. Natoa, the young Stellar sea lion at the Vancouver Aquarium was caught on video trying to catch snow flakes.

Here's exactly how the numbers broke down.

Vancouver Is Awesome polled 710 readers and asked the question: Do you like when it snows in Vancouver?

The poll ran from 12/4/2022 to 12/9/2022. Of the 710 votes, we can determine that 404 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Yes 43.81 % local, 47.04 % total
No 55.94 % local, 52.96 % total
  Local   Total

Results are based on an online study of adult Vancouver Is Awesome readers that are located in Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 3.68%, 19 times out of 20.
