Vancouverites can fly to Florida at a steal thanks to a non-stop service to New York from a low-cost American airline.

In June, JetBlue Airways, a low-cost, New York-based airline, launched a non-stop, daily service between Vancouver and New York.

The new route offers a convenient and competitively priced option for locals looking to visit the Big Apple -- but it also provides options for flights to other popular U.S. destinations, such as Miami, on the cheap via the carrier's hub city.

For travellers looking to visit the "Most Magical Place On Earth" during the bluest month of the year, JetBlue offers the lowest-cost option to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.

For example, a flight that departs Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Jan. 26, 2023, and returns from Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Feb. 2, costs a total of US$262.72 which works out to C$358.31 based on the current exchange rate.

There is only one layover in either direction at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and both of them are under two hours.

These flights are approximately $410 cheaper than usual, with round-trip tickets typically costing between $445 and $1,600, according to Google Flights.

Everything you need to know about the new direct Vancouver flights to Orlando

Travellers looking for a more seamless travel experience will have to pay a premium for it.

Canada's second-largest airline, WestJet, launched its direct service from Vancouver to Orlando in November, providing a nonstop option between the two cities on Saturdays.

With only one service on the popular route each week, ticket prices have steadily climbed into the new year. Right now, all of the flights in January cost upwards of $900.

Locals who want to fly on the direct route can do so for several hundred dollars less if they are flexible with their dates. For example, a flight that departs Vancouver on Feb. 25 and returns a week later on March 4 costs $580.49.

It's always a good idea to book your hotel well in advance of travel, particularly if you plan on going to this popular destination. Cheap options sell out fast, as well as more convenient ones.

Walt Disney World Resort is a sprawling attraction and, depending on where you stay, you'll be afforded extra amenities and inclusions, such as priority theme park entry and extended evening hours. In other words, you'll get to maximize your time at the park. Of course, you are paying a premium to stay at Disney, so you'll have to determine if it makes sense for your budget.

You should also buy your Disney World tickets in advance of travel.
