The deadline to apply for a Vancouver Sport Hosting Grant is Oct. 31. Funding of $200,000 is available from the city through grants dedicated to helping local groups host sports events.

Fall cleanup time runs between Oct. 8 and 16. During this period, household garbage (excluding mattresses) can be disposed for free at the Vancouver Landfill, 5400 72nd St., Delta from 7: 30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

City opens election office

A reminder that the City of Vancouver has opened an election office for the Nov. 19 civic vote. It's located at 450 West Broadway, a few steps east of the Broadway/City Hall Canada Line station. The office is open from 8: 30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
