One of the best things about being in Vancouver is how close we are to the border. It makes cross border shopping more doable than if you lived in, say, some other place that was not as close to the border. There, I said it.

Growing up in Steveston, the one place you never went to buy fish was the docks. This seems backwards now, but back then fishing was such a big part of the community that everyone knew someone that could hook them up.

Literally a few doors down from the Height's swinging Helen icon , Thai Cafe is the best Thai restaurant in Burnaby (in my lifelong Burnaby residential opinion).

Yesterday our good friends at the Museum of Vancouver launched their latest exhibit entitled Home Grown: Local Sustainable Food and, as you might have suspected, it's quite awesome.

After trying the Mars bar and the oreos last year, I had to step up and try the jelly beans this year. The verdict? I wouldn't buy them again, but if you bought them and offered me a bite....I'd take some.

I recently had some amazing pie and I really want to tell you all about this thing. Availability varies as the man in the kitchen makes are variety of great desserts but this apple meringue pie is a must try.

Mmm, fromage. I walk by La Belle Patate (1215 Davie St.) all the time and have often wondered about the greasy goodness that comes from within. My friend Marcel (French Canadian, vraiment! ) and I went for lunch there yesterday and I finally imbibed.

You gotta like it when your friend posts where to get free figs , when he knows full well that the tree is pretty much bare. I climbed that sucker last week end and there wasn't much left.

With all the talk of BLACKBERRIES around this time of year it's easy to forget that there are a bunch of fig trees in city parks and overhanging alleyways.

After a pretty weak effort last year , I decided to do more with my blackberries this time around with a pie. Mmmmmm.....Pie... What a great way to spend an evening, picking, baking, then eating.... Bob...the bar has been set....
