You could say this fried chicken spot is spreading its wings...

A fried chicken venture that found its wings (and legs) this year at its original Richmond location has plans to expand to add outposts in Burnaby and Vancouver.

Chirpyhut Fried Chicken, which launched this spring at 3471 No. 3 Rd, is putting itself on the map elsewhere in the Lower Mainland and opening up at 3088 Cambie St in Vancouver and at the corner of Kingsway and Wilson in the Metrotown area of Burnaby.

The fried chicken joint is known for its crispy fried chicken, available in pieces or as a whole fried chicken.

But Chirpyhut's most Insta-famous menu item by far is the black chicken wings, aka Meteorite Wings.

How do they do it? They use a well-loved culinary tool: squid ink.

Along with their popular chicken offerings, Chirpyhut serves up sides like thick-cut fried potato wedges, and chicken sandwiches - some even available on a black squid ink bun.

No official timeline has been revealed for Chiripyhut's forays into Burnaby and Vancouver, but we'll keep you posted when there's an update. In the meantime, you can head to Richmond to check out their hot, juicy, crispy (and sometimes totally black) fried chicken!
