Dining out is a little different these days, but events like the Taste of Yaletown - which entice diners to visit participating neighbourhood restaurants to enjoy special menus at set prices - are still taking place, and giving food fans another way to support their favourite local places to grab a bite, or fall in love with a new spot.

Now in its 16th year, the Taste of Yaletown is presented by The Yaletown Business Improvement Association (YBIA) and will run from Oct. 16-26.

Participating restaurants will have prix fixe menus of  $25, $35, $45 and $55. This year, TOY is also putting an emphasis on take-out, and to that end, for every TOY take-out order made during the event, the guest placing the order will receive a $5 gift card in return.

Additionally, there's a fundraising component for TOY 2020; for every TOY special menu ordered for either dine-in or take-out, $1 will be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

“This year has been a tough year for everyone, and we wanted to continue Taste of Yaletown as a means to not only support this long-standing neighbourhood of local businesses, but also support the people within our community,” said Annette O’Shea, Executive Director of the Yaletown Business Improvement Association in a media release. “Our focus this year is to give back and allow people to safely support their community, as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times.”

While there are some reliable familiar spots on the list of 2020 Taste of Yaletown participating restaurants, diners take note that there are a couple of newcomers to check out - Do Chay and Capo & the Spritz. Do Chay, which focuses on plant-based Vietnamese fare, took over the former House Special space with the same owners and is a sibling outpost to the original Kingsway and Fraser Do Chay. Capo & the Spritz replaced La Pentola at the Opus, and is a pizza and beer-centric Italian restaurant from the team at Autostrada.

Here are all the participating restaurants for Taste of Yaletown 2020:

  • Banter Room
  • Bistro Sakana
  • Brix & Mortar
  • CAPO
  • Do Chay
