Fresh sheet: 10 Metro Vancouver restaurants open again for take-out and delivery

Including some of the most important food groups: Doughnuts and tacos (and a whole lot more)

More and more Vancouver restaurants are re-opening their kitchens to serve up dishes available for pick-up or delivery as a means to carry on during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. That means you can get your hands on some of the city's favourite eats, like Phnom Penh's award-winning Cambodian fare, HK BBQ Master's legendary meats, and tacos and doughnuts galore.

Restaurant owners have approached operations from a number of new models - some are focusing on take-and-make kits, while others are rounding out their offerings with pantry and grocery items to help keep your fridge and cupboards stocked. While many restaurants are on board with existing food carrier companies, others are keeping it in-house, which means they're limited to pick-up, or they're trying out doing their own deliveries.

If you're looking for a few places that have just launched new food takeout or delivery programs, here are a handful of note.

Fresh Sheet for Thursday, May 7, 2020

Phnom Penh

The best spot for Cambodian eats in Vancouver has recently re-opened for to-go orders. Operating 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, customers can call the Chinatown restaurant with their orders like Phnom Penh's signature chicken wings, butter beef, and beef luc lac. We hear it's pretty busy as usual, so you may still have to wait - just like usual! Phone: 604-682-5777 or 604-734-8898.

Tacofino (Kitsilano)

The Tacofino To-Go menu, along with cocktail kits, beer, and wine, launched May 5 for curbside pick-up or delivery via DoorDash, daily from noon to 8 p.m. out of their Kitsilano locations only. Taco fans will be happy to see tacos - and much more, like burritos, bowls, and kids' items, as well as their nachos (take-and-bake style). The Tofino-born restaurant will also be offering family sized taco kits. Two dollars from the sale of each kit will be donated directly to the Vancouver Food + Beverage Relief Fund. Takeout or delivery orders can be made through DoorDash and online. For contactless pickup, pull into the parking lot behind Tacofino Kitsilano and call 604-620-8729 to have staff bring out orders.
